Shape Scavenger Hunt
Find objects of different shapes around the house.
Materials: Paper, pen, optional camera
Age: 3+
Steps:
- Draw or list shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle).
- Ask child to find one object for each shape.
- Count and talk about each object’s properties.
DIY Sensory Bin
Create a themed bin for tactile exploration.
Materials: Large container, rice/beans/lentils, scoops, small toys
Age: 2.5+
Steps:
- Fill container with base material.
- Add scoops, funnels, and small toys.
- Let child explore freely, describing textures.
Pompom Colour Sort
Sort colourful pompoms into matching containers.
Materials: Pompoms in 4 colours, bowls or cups in matching colours, tongs
Age: 3+
Steps:
- Place pompoms in a pile.
- Ask child to use tongs or fingers to place each pompom into the matching bowl.
- Count how many of each colour.
Alphabet Treasure Hunt
Hide letter cards and search for them.
Materials: Letter cards (magnetic or paper), tape
Age: 4+
Steps:
- Hide letters around a room.
- Give child a list or say a letter sound.
- Child finds and brings back each letter.

Let’s Play with Shapes!
Circle Hop
Draw circles on the ground with chalk. Call out a colour or number and have child hop onto that circle.
Square Collage
Cut out squares from magazines or coloured paper. Glue them onto a larger square to make a mosaic.
Triangle Hunt
Look for triangles in the house (roofs, pizza slices, flags). Count how many you find.
